Whopper perch

Drop shot fishing has become the latest ‘must do’ in angling circles over the last two years or so, having been imported from the USA where it is one of the most used methods for catching bass. It has certainly caught the attention of predator anglers, especially those seeking perch, and those who want to either travel light or who don’t have much free time. And it is a fascinating technique using little rubber fish, jigged about in the water, with the simplest tackle. One of the Club’s leading exponents is carp angling coach and well known carp angler Mark Watson who has been playing around with the method at Ravenfield and other local waters for some time. And now the weather is improving Mark is having much more success, topped last weekend with a superb 2lbs 4ozs fish caught on the Gt. Pond.
