Ravenfield’s big perch have really come into their own during the last few weeks with 2lbs fish being taken from the New, the Gt., the Kingfisher and Burcliff ponds and topped by a 3lbs 9ozs fish taken by club chairman Martin Read. In four visits to the ponds Martin has caught 2lbs or very near 2lbs fish, or multiples of fish on each occasion fishing both the feeder and waggler. Martin commented, ‘Our fish don’t spawn until late April and none of the fish I caught were fat with eggs, which means in the next few weeks there is even greater potential for a monster to be caught.
