Club chairman Martin Read has taken time from the banks to put pen to paper and document his experiences during 55 years of angling.
Many are funny, others serious including early adventures, pleasure fishing all the way through to the big open matches in the Fens and on the Trent, and from there to fishery management.
It documents changes that have occurred in society and the environment and the ways anglers have responded to these changes. It culminates in a look to the future and what it holds for angling as a sport.
I am sure that everyone who has ever fished Ravenfield Ponds and had the pleasure to spend time with Martin will enjoy this book. Having read the book myself I feel it will also appeal to the wider angling community and hope that Martin had as much pleasure writing it as I did reading it.
‘Martin’s book is packed with humour and stories taken from a lifetime of fishing. Local anglers will love it’ Paul Rickett, Sports Editor, Rotherham Advertiser
