Some 1500 Calverton bred barbel were stocked into the Don on December 1st, with 750 of these put in the river at Kilnhurst and the remainder at Blackburn Meadows. Although the fish were only one year old some of them were 8inches long, a phenominal size for such young fish, and a good start to becoming specimens of the future. Each was identified by by two fine green lines and a green spot on top of it’s head. We’d be interested to hear of anyone catching them in future.
