HS2 Update
A great deal has happened at the Park since the last Newsletter, including receiving many thousands of tench, crucian and rudd fry, and hosting a film company, so read on to get all the details.
However before doing so we have an update on HS2. The new route has now been confirmed and it is the intention to bring the line down the eastern end of Firsby Reservoir, running behind the houses at Firsby across the big field to the NE of the Park and crossing the A630 Rotherham/Doncaster road the Hooton Roberts side of the Hilltop pub. Full details can be seen at https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/hs2-plan-and-profile-maps-woodall-to-conisbrough.
Over the next few weeks contractors working on behalf of HS2 will be in the Park carrying out an environmental survey to see if we have any ‘rare’ plans or animals that need protection. While it seems unlikely that they will find any they will also measure noise levels and it will be interesting to see how they deal with an increasingly rare phenomenon of peace and quiet, of which we have lots, during the construction and operational phases.
