Babies return
Earlier this year the Environment Agency ‘borrowed’ nine Ravenfield crucian carp for their fish breeding programme at Calverton Fish Farm. (see News Item dated June 9th 2008). 300 of their offspring have just been returned to Ravenfield to boost crucian stocks in the Park. Half of these have been placed in the two stock ponds to grow on and spawn providing a continuous source of true crucians for the future. These perfectly formed little fish are suprisingly large for their age, being only 6 months old, and should grow quickly in their new environment.
