More good news for anglers
Following an application for help from the Environment Agency’s Rod Licence Grant Scheme the Cub has been given £3,500 for the renewal and replacement of islands and fish refuges. The old ones, which have been in place for more than 15 years, (doesn’t time fly), are begining to show signs of wear and tear and will be replaced during the coming months.
In addition the Club has also rec’d funding from the Don Network to build smaller islands which will be placed in the margins and used to study the most effective ways of getting plants established whilst helping fish spawning.
Floating islands, planted with vegetation are used throughout the world to improve water quality, provide shelter for fish from predation and to provide increased opportunities for spawning and fry survival.
