Winter League Update
Signs from the results of the last two matches that winter is starting to take effect. After a good start, albeit a damp one, two weeks ago the following match was really hard.
Fourteen anglers fished on the Gt. Pond at Ravenfield where Stuart Senior used all his scratching skills to win the match with 6lbs 13ozs of small fish from peg 72 on the dam wall. Dave Griffiths at 83 on the far bank was second with 5lbs 7ozs beating last week’s winner Dave Lawton, who weighed 4lbs 7ozs, into third place. Stuart’s father Don took the fourth spot and a section win with 4lbs 1oz ahead of Carl Rothram who was fifth, and also won a section, with 3lbs 6.5ozs. Trevor Parkin was sixth with 3lbs 6ozs.
One of the problems it seems was clear water, something which did not affect last Saturday’s result, although the pegs with the most colour were not fished.
Fifteen anglers fished and Dave Griffiths, pictured below, returned to the peg he took second place from the previous week, number 83, to win the match with 10lbs 4ozs.
Stuart Senior at the next peg was second with 8lbs 8ozs just ahead of Neil Gabbitas, on the other bank, who weighed 8lbs 4ozs for third. Ray Hamshaw as fourth with 7lbs 13ozs with Dave Lawton fifth with 5lbs 5ozs and Carl Rothram sixth with 4lbs 14ozs.
